The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2021 has requested the transfer of CVE’s responsibilities to the Small Business Administration (SBA) by January 1, 2023 to streamline the certification process for veteran-owned small businesses. This shift will give rise to the SBA veteran small business verification program, which will continue the essential role of creating opportunities for these businesses. The program ensures that veteran-owned small businesses (VOSBs) and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSBs) can compete for set-aside and sole-source contracts through the VA, but they must be verified before they can participate.
