The NEON District and Tidewater Community College’s Visual Arts & Design Center have joined forces to present “Renewable Energies,” an inspiring art exhibition exploring themes of renewal and transformation. Featuring twelve regional artists, the exhibition marks the first collaboration between these two influential arts institutions, showcasing the creative vibrancy of Norfolk’s cultural scene.
Running from January 13 to March 8, 2025, at the Visual Arts & Design Center (260 Boush Street, Norfolk, VA), this free exhibition invites the public to experience the transformative power of art. The display includes a diverse range of visual media, as well as a special video installation, HELIANTHUS, created by students from The Governor’s School of the Arts. This collection is perfectly timed to coincide with Virginia’s seasonal transition from winter to spring, reflecting the natural cycle of change and renewal.
Visitors are encouraged to attend the opening reception on January 30, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM, where jury announcements will take place at 6 PM. It’s a chance to meet the artists and experience the energy driving Norfolk’s creative evolution.
This collaboration is a testament to the NEON District’s ongoing commitment to fostering creativity and innovation. With its vibrant mix of galleries, performances, and cultural experiences, Norfolk’s first official arts district continues to grow as a hub for inspiration and artistic exchange. The Visual Arts & Design Center, equally dedicated to supporting dynamic exhibitions, provides an exceptional space for connecting art, community, and education.
