Hey, Innovate Hampton Roads—picture this: A gritty garage founder in Norfolk tinkering with a Defense Tech prototype. A Chesapeake climate whiz mapping water tech solutions for our coastal vibes. Or a Virginia Beach biohacker flipping the script on how we live our lives. These aren’t just dreams; they’re the raw fuel powering our region’s startup surge. And today, we’re thrilled to shout from the rooftops: Applications for 757 Accelerate Cohort 9 are officially live! If you’re a founder ready to trade “what if” for “watch this,” this is your green light to accelerate into the big leagues.

Since its explosive debut in 2018, when 757 Collab rolled out its inaugural cohort of five trailblazers—like SVT Robotics began automating warehouses and later, Crunchy Hydration innovated wellness—757 Accelerate has been the secret sauce in Hampton Roads’ entrepreneurial kitchen. Housed in the buzzing Assembly campus in downtown Norfolk, 757 Collab isn’t just a startup factory; it’s the connective tissue weaving ideas into economic dynamite. Over eight cohorts (and counting), they’ve mentored dozens of startups across sectors, dishing out non-dilutive cash, battle-tested advice, and doors to investors who actually write checks. Think Cohort 7 in 2024: Nine powerhouses from 158 applicants, snagging $20K grants each and prime office digs while tackling everything from EdTech to robotics. These aren’t vanity metrics—alums are landing funding rounds, scaling teams, and creating jobs that keep our talent here, not hopping I-95 north.

Cohort 9 cranks it up a notch with a laser-focused, nine-week bootcamp tailored for pre-seed and seed-stage squads gunning for institutional capital. We’re talking investor-readiness workshops on nailing metrics, crafting killer stories, and mapping capital hunts. Hands-on mentorship from operators who’ve been in the trenches, plus intros to regional heavy-hitters and national VCs. And yeah, that sweet $10K non-dilutive boost per team to fuel the fire. Sectors? Wide open and industry-agnostic, but they’re eyeing our Hampton Roads superpowers: Defense Tech for naval innovation, Energy and Climate/Water Tech to safeguard our shores, Med Tech for health breakthroughs, and Ed Tech to upskill our workforce.

“Founders don’t need more noise, they need clear milestones, honest feedback, and real access,” says Joseph D’Amelio, Senior Program Manager at 757 Accelerate. Spot on, Joe—this program’s blueprint for traction isn’t fluff; it’s forged from real wins, like the Cohort 7 crew that’s already reshaping industries and etching Hampton Roads on the national map.

Why does this matter to you? Because every accepted founder amplifies our story—the underdog region punching above its weight in innovation. It’s about building a ecosystem where a Troopster (veteran-focused HR tech from Cohort 1) evolves into a profitability powerhouse, or a VroomBrick (fresh 2025 cohort gem) scales sustainable mobility. It’s job creation in Portsmouth, partnerships blooming in Newport News, and a vibe that screams “Hampton Roads: Where Grit Meets Growth.”
