DESCRIPTION:IdeaFest is a pitch competition where 20 finalists will pitch their startup business idea to a panel of judges and a live audience.\n\n\nThe 7th IdeaFest Business Pitch Competition will take place on Thursday\, April 28\, 2022 starting at 1:00pm. IdeaFest is a pitch competition where 20 finalists will pitch their startup business idea to a panel of judges and a live audience.  A total of $10\,000 will be awarded to the top 3 competitors. \nWinners of the competition will also be eligible to receive twenty-five hours of free business consulting from The Launch Place. \nAwards \n\n1st Place $5\,000\n2nd Place $3\,000\n3rd Place $2\,000\n\nApply to Pitch – Deadline April 8 \nThe Launch Place assists with business formation\, job creation and retention through its business consulting services and investment funding\, while having a dual responsibility to recruit and retain entrepreneurs to the Dan River Region. The IdeaFest competition exposes The Launch Place’s services and funds to start-up companies that are ready to establish or seeking early stage capital. The Launch Place could potentially invest in the company from its Seed and Pre-Seed Funds. \nIdeaFest is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to attend any part of the day’s activities. DESCRIPTION:Pitch Virginia will showcase innovative high-growth\, main street\, and student companies in the Commonwealth\n\n\nThe inaugural Pitch Virginia event\, powered by Activation Capital\, will take place on Wednesday\, November 10 at the newly opened Shift Retail Lab\, an initiative of the VCU da Vinci Center.  Kicking off with a design thinking workshop in the morning\, the day will be filled with pitches from high growth\, main street and student companies competing for $15\,000 of prize money\, concluding with the grand opening event of the Shift Retail Lab at VCU with a cocktail networking event and open house tours of the space in the evening.  These events are an official activity of Global Entrepreneurship Week\, an international movement to empower entrepreneurs and help make it possible for anyone\, anywhere to start and scale.\n \nPitch Virginia is an opportunity to highlight the entrepreneurs and startup companies in the Commonwealth.  The contest will feature three categories: high growth startups\, main street companies\, and student-owned ventures.  Capital One is sponsoring the event and donated $15\,000 in cash prizes for winning companies.

SUMMARY:Virginia SBDC: Pitch Preview
DESCRIPTION:Virginia early-stage innovative entrepreneurs:  Charlottesville Angel Network (CAN) and Virginia Small Business Development Center (VSBDC) have joined forces to help you polish your pitch presentation.\nCAN and VSBDC are offering four pitch practice opportunities in 2021\, with accredited angel investors in attendance. This is the final event in the 2021 series.  There is no cost to participate and presenter(s) will leave with actionable feedback from these angel investors.\n \nFive applicants will be selected for each Pitch Preview event\, held the first Thursday of the selected months\, between 12:00-3:00 pm. Attendees commit to thirty-minute time slots consisting of: 5 minutes to join and meet angels\, 15-minute pitch\, and 10 minutes for feedback. The November 4 event will most likely be a virtual event hosted on Zoom; hosted by Central Virginia SBDC in Charlottesville\, VA.  More details will be provided regarding location closer to the event date.\n \n**This is not an application for funding or a formal presentation to request investment.**\n \nFor more detailed qualification information and to apply\, please read\, and if eligible\, submit an application for consideration in the program.
