During this workshop\, we will explore some of the more common tax credits for businesses and discuss qualifications for those credits. \nThursday\, January 13\, 2021\, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM \nTopic: Resources on IRS.gov for Small Business \nAre you searching for information about forms\, business expenses\, or credits? IRS.gov has all the information you need. During this workshop\, we will discuss resources on IRS.gov and how to navigate the site.  \nAbout the Instructor:  Anika Pompey is a Senior Stakeholder Liaison with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in Washington\, DC.  In this role\, she is responsible for performing outreach and establishing relationships with tax practitioners\, business and industry organizations\, and other audiences for the purpose of sharing information about IRS policies\, practices\, and procedures.   Prior to becoming a Senior Stakeholder Liaison\, Anika held the position of Tax Compliance Officer (TCO). In this role\, she planned and conducted examinations of individual income tax returns. She was also responsible for educating taxpayers about tax law and tax-related accounting.  Anika held the position of TCO for nine years before becoming the frontline manager of a TCO group. Anika has also held the position of Contact Representative where she was responsible for assisting customers with their tax accounts. Overall\, Anika’s IRS career spans more than 14 years.

Small business owners who are looking to participate in Virginia’s specialized procurement and contracting opportunities are encouraged to become SWaM certified. The SWaM certification is a vehicle to promote economic growth of Virginia’s businesses. \nState (SWaM) Certification is one of the most powerful business tools you can use to grow your sales among state agencies\, public colleges and universities\, local municipalities\, and private sector firms that utilize the SWaM database. \nBecoming SWaM certified is just the first step in doing business with the Commonwealth. Each year the state buys goods and services totaling more than $8 billion.
