A Launchpad for Innovation

For Innovate Hampton Roads, this is more than a street party—it’s a launchpad for the entrepreneurial spirit. First Fridays Hampton Roads have long been a cornerstone of Norfolk’s cultural and economic resurgence, drawing crowds to support local businesses and showcase the creative pulse of our community. With the City of Norfolk’s renewed fiscal backing, DNC is partnering with LAVA Presents to deliver top-tier musical acts, kicking off with the high-energy No BS! Brass on August 1, 2025. This revival signals a bold step forward for Downtown Norfolk, a hub where startups, artists, and innovators collide.

Empowering Local Businesses

Historically, First Fridays Hampton Roads have been a proving ground for local vendors and creatives, offering a stage to test ideas, network, and grow. From food trucks to craft stalls, these events empower small businesses to shine, fostering the kind of grassroots innovation that defines Hampton Roads. As Mary Miller, DNC’s President & CEO, puts it, these events “showcase the vibrancy of the Downtown neighborhood” and bring our community together—a perfect recipe for sparking new ventures and collaborations.
