Innovate Hampton Roads: Spotlight on Made in Norfolk

At Innovate Hampton Roads, we’re thrilled to spotlight a game-changer for our region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem: Made in Norfolk Launches at Selden Market. This iconic local apparel brand is joining Selden Market in Downtown Norfolk as its newest mentor storefront. Opening June 6, 2025, during Harborfest weekend, this move marks a vibrant leap for Norfolk’s innovation scene, and we’re here to tell you why it matters to our community of dreamers and doers.

The Journey of Made in Norfolk

Founded in 2019 by Norfolk native Amir Driver, Made in Norfolk has transformed from a personal merchandise line into a cultural powerhouse. Its high-fashion streetwear captures the city’s pride, style, and energy, resonating deeply with locals through collaborations with the Norfolk Tides, VisitNorfolk, and high school athletic programs. Now, nestled in Selden Market’s award-winning retail incubator, Made in Norfolk will offer themed tees, seasonal collections, custom designs, and live events, creating an immersive experience that’s more than just retail—it’s a celebration of Norfolk’s soul.

A New Home at Selden Market

“Norfolk is home,” Driver shared. “Launching at Selden Market puts us in the heart of Downtown, surrounded by creatives and community-focused businesses.” His grand opening on June 20, coinciding with the Team L.A.M.B. Juneteenth Vendor Market, promises food, music, and exclusive onsite shirt pressing, amplifying the region’s vibrant entrepreneurial spirit.

Selden Market: A Beacon of Innovation

Selden Market, operated by the Downtown Norfolk Council (DNC), is a beacon of innovation. Since 2017, it’s nurtured nearly 40 businesses—80% of which have expanded across Hampton Roads—through low-risk leases and a supportive environment. With a majority of women- and minority-owned shops, it’s a model for inclusive growth, drawing a quarter million visitors annually. “Made in Norfolk’s energy is unmatched,” said Careyann Weinberg, DNC’s Director of Economic Vitality. “Amir’s journey as an artist and community leader inspires us all.”
