Hampton Roads has 24 companies among the fastest-growing private businesses in America.

The 2026 Inc. 5000 was released this week, ranking private companies across the country by percentage revenue growth over a three-year period. Across Virginia, 247 companies made the list.

For Hampton Roads, the results provide a snapshot of where companies are scaling across the regional economy.

The 24 companies represent everything from technology and cybersecurity to construction, financial services, architecture, defense and home services. They also range from companies approaching the top of the national ranking to businesses making their first appearance among the 5,000.

Three Hampton Roads companies landed inside the top 1,000.

Virginia Beach-based AREMCO leads the region at No. 313 nationally. Chesapeake-based Rival Digital follows at No. 660, with Virginia Beach-based Melone Hatley at No. 683.

There’s another connection within the list.

Buzz Franchise Brands, G2 Ops and Groundworks are all featured on the IHR200, Innovate Hampton Roads’ ongoing look at 200 companies making an impact on the regional economy.

But the bigger story is the breadth of the list.

There isn’t one sector responsible for Hampton Roads’ showing. There isn’t one city, either. The companies span seven cities across the region and operate in very different corners of the economy.

And unlike rankings built around funding, valuation or projections, the Inc. 5000 is rooted in something straightforward: revenue growth.

That makes these 24 companies more than names on a national list. They’re another measure of businesses scaling right here in Hampton Roads.
