Picture this: you own a ten-year-old Jeep Wrangler and it’s a slow Friday afternoon. You start searching for places to go off-roading and stumble across W2W Parks—a network where landowners across the U.S. open up their unused land for thousands of enthusiasts like you to go mudding (aka what the cool kids call off-roading). The key to off-roading? Traction. Enough grip to get through the mudhole, over the hill, or whatever challenge lies ahead. And in business, traction is everything. That’s something Brittany and Dave Peregoff have learned firsthand.
More than a decade ago, the Peregoffs launched Where2Wheel, an online database helping off-road enthusiasts find trails, creeks, dunes, and rocky paths across the country. It quickly grew into a go-to platform for hundreds of thousands of users. It looked like they had found their lane—but the couple wasn’t convinced. Instead, they dreamt up the next phase: transforming unused golf courses into off-road parks. The concept—part amusement park, part adventure course—had massive potential. But it also had massive hurdles. Zoning issues, insurance, permits, and high startup costs—nearly $400,000 per park—made the idea difficult to bring to life.
Then came a stroke of luck. According to a popular TED Talk, luck is responsible for 42% of business success—and the Peregoffs found theirs about three years ago when co-founder Chris Shelton discovered agritourism. Agritourism laws, which allow farmers to host weddings, hayrides, and other activities, provided a loophole. By categorizing off-roading as agritourism, landowners could host events without the same zoning restrictions or liability concerns. For Where2Wheel, it was the missing piece. “Before that, we needed a conditional use permit and insurance for every single location,” said Dave. “Now, we could help landowners host events safely and legally. It changed everything.”
In 2021, while attending Jake Maines’ Networking Happy Hour, the Peregoffs met Wyatt—a landowner with 42 acres of unused property who wanted to do something fun with it. Together, they launched their first location called Proving Grounds, a test event that quickly confirmed they were onto something. They ran eleven Proving Grounds events, each one generating more interest from riders and landowners alike. And the data was clear: east of the Mississippi River—where population density is highest—off-road access is severely limited. “There’s no way to get here without walking through all of these steps,” Dave said. “You’re like a Roomba—bumping into a wall, then turning and trying another direction. Each pivot got us closer.”
For customers like Ashley, W2W became a game-changer. “There is no secret that Virginia Beach is lacking in the world of off-road trails to hit with friends. When I found the W2W community I felt like so many prayers had been answered! We are finally able to EASILY lay the computer/TV screens down, get off road and in nature with others, and not have to worry about the added cost of traveling long distance to do so. This is truly a welcoming community for off road enthusiasts of all skill levels to have fun, learn, and grow.”
Back in 2018, a chance encounter at Start Peninsula set another gear in motion. Jason Calacanis was the keynote speaker, and the Peregoffs, not knowing who he was at the time, began following his TWIST podcast and Launch Accelerator. Fast-forward to 2025, and Where2Wheel had just completed Launch Accelerator 34—pitching in front of investors from Google, Sequoia Capital, and Fenwick & West—and taking first place in the live Demo Day. “Each pivot was a refinement,” Brittany said. “We started by solving an informational problem—where to go off-roading. But we realized the real solution was access. How could we create off-road locations without spending half a million dollars each? That’s where the marketplace started.”
There were moments when giving up seemed inevitable. Dave recalls a story often told in business circles: a miner had been digging for gold for months, frustrated and exhausted, and quit just three feet from striking a rich vein. Shortly after, another miner came along, dug in the same area, and hit the gold the first miner had been chasing all along. “We almost gave up five or six times,” Dave said. “We were just a few feet from our own gold more than once. But perseverance is what gets you through. You know your market, but you have to really listen to your customers. That’s when things started clicking, when people actually began paying for what they wanted.”
Landowners like Jenna and Sean of Moon Shine Farms have also seen the benefits firsthand. “Nothing beats the excitement of hitting the trails, and we love having others along for the ride! Joining Where2Wheel was a leap of faith that paid off in a big way. What started as an off-roading group quickly grew into a wonderful, close-knit community. The atmosphere is always fantastic and family-oriented, filled with amazing people. The leadership is exceptional; they are committed to providing a great experience, always prioritizing safety and making sure everyone is taken care of from start to finish.”
Today, Where2Wheel’s marketplace partners with rural landowners to host small, supervised off-road events. W2W promotes the events, manages logistics, and splits revenue 50/50 with the landowner. The model is now active in several states, with plans to expand across the Northeast Corridor—from Norfolk to Boston—where population density and lack of access make it the perfect market for growth. “We’re on a mission to solve access for off-roaders,” Brittany said.
For participants like Ruby, the difference is clear: “We’ve got a huge off-roading community here in Southeast Virginia—and finding great local spots to ride with family and friends used to be a challenge. That’s why working with W2W has been such a game-changer! They’ve made it easy to get out and enjoy the trails, with super convenient locations and awesome guidance at every event.”
Where2Wheel’s mission is to make off-roading more accessible. We partner with landowners to offer 4×4 access through hosting small, supervised off-road events. These events are promoted by W2W, and sales are split 50/50 between the landowner and Where2Wheel. W2W has helped more than one million Jeep, truck, and 4×4 off-road enthusiasts search where to go wheeling since 2014.
